Matcha is a type of green tea, made from the powdered leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. Thanks to their unique growing conditions, tea plants produce higher amounts of amino acids, including L-theanine, plant compounds called polyphenols, as well as antioxidant nutrients such as vitamin C. Matcha also has a relatively high caffeine content compared to other teas.
